WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE AND STRATEGIES(Lehigh Valley)
Women, unfortunately, tend to be the targets of a number of crimes which involve some kind of attack. There are also many women who feel a sense of vulnerability or insecurity and perhaps do not have the physical strength or confidence to fend off an attack or perhaps even be assertive and stand up for themselves.
We live in a world where believing yourself to be immune to danger is very naive and shortsighted - "what are the chances of me being attacked...". Well the people who ARE vulnerable are the ones who think this way and think that bad things only happen to people in the news. This is wrong and there are many examples to illustrate it, one being as blatant as the tragedies of September 11th. I'd be willing to bet most of those victims did not think a plane would fly into their workplace...
Simply by paying attention, one can see a need in this world and in these times to be able to protect oneself. Women being prone to so many violent and sexual attacks especially ought to think long and hard about learning to protect themselves. A very solid and practical solution exists in the way of the martial arts. The problem with this solution is that many people (men and women alike) have little desire or time available to put toward the effort and commitment required over years of study to become a proficient martial artist.
This being said, there arises a need for a very realistic and effective short term martial program that can develop skills which will dramatically increase survivability in dangerous situations. For this reason, we are creating the "Women's Self Defense and Strategies" program in the Lehigh Valley. The program will be a 4 week, short term program focusing on not only common attacks and combat tested techniques to counter them, but will also be custom tailored to address each participant's own personal fears and scenarios. The techniques have survived the test of time as well as battle and will be taught by a martial arts instructor in the Samurai and Ninja combat arts.
Instruction will be offered two days/nights per week throughout the four week program and will cultivate a sense of enhanced personal confidence and physical skills to greatly increase the safety of participants in an unstable and sometimes frighteningly dangerous world.

Wee Warriors and Ninja Kids(Children's Martial Arts, Lehigh Valley) The Wee Warriors program at the Lehigh Valley Bujinkan Dojo is an upcoming program for children ages 4 to 6 and the Ninja Kids program will be oriented toward children 7 to 12. Classes will be held for one hour every weekday afternoon during the school year and every weekday morning during the summer months.
The objective of these unique programs for children combines learning the fundamentals of effective martial arts - which develops the ability for children to begin learning to protect themselves; gymnastics - which cultivate agility, body conditioning and healthy exercise; and "inner values" which teach confidence, courage, sincerity and discipline.
Children will begin to learn how to be respectful, and not only how to deal with peer pressure, but also how to be a leader with good values. They will learn how to deal with fear and insecurity as well as how to overcome it and follow their own path with confidence.
The program will also thoroughly address how to recognize dangerous situations and strangers as well as dealing with various emergencies. Since the learning process varies with age, so too will the teaching and training in this program reflect the learning capabilities of the different age groups.
With the overlying theme of having fun and getting exercise through play, gymnastics, agility and martial arts, the child begins a happy journey toward a healthy body, mind and spirit.
